Welcome to the Seattle Mystery Bookshop's weblog! We intend to use this to address topics that don't fit in our other venues.
We have our monthly red postcards of upcoming author events. Those tend to be so jammed that all they can hold is a brief calendar. No room for anything more.
We have our quarterly newsletters. They are jammed with information of books to be released during those months. We once could include a column on different matters, but those have been forced out in favor of more book entries.
We have our website which has our continually updated calendar of author events, links to other sites, our present and past newsletters, a list of definitions, shop history and photos, as well as other things of interest. While a website has room, it never seemed to be the right place for what we have in mind for the blog.
We have our newzine, our informal e-mail of updates to events, bestseller lists, award nominees, staff recommendations of what we've all been reading, and bits of news from the world of books. We try to keep those relatively short since they are a scatter-shot of various subjects and a long piece about given topic might be a bit too much.
Topics might include our thoughts on publishing, publishers, the world of books, working retail, write-ups on favorite authors, photos from author events, how bookselling really works, - topics that can be approached in a more leisurely way and are, perhaps, less time-sensitive. We'll all see how and where it goes.
After all, life is full of mysteries.
