I'm at the Seattle Mystery Bookshop and have had an amazing time talking with JB, Amber, and Fran. This is just the second stop on my tour for In Search of Mercy, and the first time I've ever been in Seattle. I couldn't have picked a better place to spend a few hours today than SMB. If you like mysteries and thrillers -- or just fiction in general -- you must visit this store.
In Search of Mercy won the PWA/Minotaur Best First Private Competition in 2009 and was released on October 12, 2010. It has received very positive reviews, including a starred review from Publisher's Weekly and a great write-up from JB on Killer Books.
The novel is about Dexter Bolzjak, a failed hockey goalie, and his friendship with Lou Kashon, a sick and elderly drunk. Lou convinces Dexter to seek out his lost love, Mercy Carnahan, a film-noir star who's been missing since the '50s. The further Dexter progresses on his search, the more nightmarish his journey becomes. In fact, he begins to wonder if Mercy is even human.
You can find out for yourself by visiting her temple.
