July 1st is the date we’ve always taken as our birthday. This coming July 1st will then be our 21st Birthday! We’ll be legal! And as a way of thanking our loyal customers who’ve allowed us to stick around this long, we’re rewarding you with two presents:
- Now that the shop is an adult, it is time to start watching our weight. So we’re going to be shedding some pounds. We have a list of 200 or so books – all signed first editions, new and not used, and nearly all hardcover – that we’ll be offering for sale at 25% off. We have them listed by author and we’ll be happy to send you the list for your perusal or stop in to look it over. There are a few stipulations (there’s always a catch, isn’t there?)
~ None of the books that have the discount will sell at that price until July 1st but you’re welcome to reserve what you’d like and pay for them then.
~ You don’t have to be in the shop – we can mail them to you. No discount on shipping.
~ You have to pay for them here. This sale will not be available through our listings on Biblio.com.
We have no idea what kind of reaction there will be, so first come, first serve. And no returns. All sales final.
Here's the list! It is a PDF. Let us know if it doesn't work and we'll e-mail it to you. Download July Sale v2
- We will begin a buyer’s reward system on July 1st so that Crime Will Pay! For every dollar you spend, our inventory system will assign 5 points to your account. When you get to 1000 points (relax, that works out to $200 spent over time), the system will tell us that you have a $10 credit to be deducted from your next purchase. These points will accrue on any dollars spent – new, used, mugs, caps, even – as Bill used to joke – the paint on the walls. It will work on in-shop sales and mail order sales. There is supposed to be a way for us to access the point totals so that we could manually add points to your total for a Biblio sale or an e-book sale!
What’s the catch with this one? Inactive accounts will have their points purged after two years. You have to be a regular supportive customer to benefit from this.
If you’re not in our inventory system, now’s the time to join. Every time you buy something, make sure we have your name and attach your sale to it.
We are working on a new website through the American Booksellers Association that will allow us to sell, and allow you to buy, e-books from us. No more buying from heartless corporations! In fact, you’ll be able to place any order, paper or electronic, through this website as it will have a shopping cart. (For signed copies, you might want to continue calling or e-mailing us directly as there is some question about how easy the IndieCommerce site will be to work with signed copies and to make sure we get inscription requests straight.) Amber is busy working on the site and learning what it can do and what we can do with it. We aim to have a number of new features and hope you’ll find it fun and informative. We’ll let you know when it is up and humming (we hope to have it ready by July 1st as well), as well as when we make nifty additions to it.
