A woman walked in yesterday lugging a heavy, metal sign that she'd come across in her barn. A late relative of her's was a collector of old and interesting signs and she wondered if we might be interested in it. We called in a representative from the building and he agreed that it should be gotten.
It's made out of some non-magnetic metal and has a patina on it that had rubbed/flaked off in spots. It must've been hanging outside at some point, perhaps decades ago when 117 was a barber shop, or perhaps it dates to the building's construction. Who knows at this point.
We'll work with the building to find a good place to display it. It has three brackets on the back, at the top. Hard to know if any of the ceilings will support it as they are now. Perhaps somewhere in the front window? Hard to say as it needs to be somewhere sturdy! But we'll put out the word when it is up.
